FAQ

What is the length of the event and course
This is a 1/4 mile closed, paved course running from Lawton Insurance to Booth Fire and Safety on State Street

What time does the event start?
The event starts at approximately 9:20am on State Street. Due to our event and the Christmas Parade the downtown roads will close at 8:55am. We suggest being parked prior to that time.

Parking?
The downtown parking garage is always a great option, but does require a multiple block walk to the start. There is always lots of parking on the street. Be aware if you park inside the road closures, you will not be able to leave until the parade is over.

Is there event staging?
Lawton Insurance and Crocker Law have generously agreed to allow us to stage our event. These are designated areas that athletes and families can use prior to the race. We will have coffee, water, and volunteers to assist with any last minute issues

How much does the event cost?
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Lockshield Partners and My 3:59 this event is FREE to all of our athletes.

Donations?
We will accept tax- deductible donations at the event, during packet pickup and through online registration. 100% of proceeds benefit Life’s Better Together- a local non profit who’s mission to provide direct financial assistance to families with a child or parent battling an ongoing illness

Is my son or daughter eligible to participate?
This event is specifically designed only for those with a mental or physical disability- no matter the age. This is an untimed “race” and we will treat all participants as the athletes they are- no matter their finish

Are parents and siblings allowed on the course?
We completely understand the fact that many of our athletes will need support on the race- whether that means pushing a wheelchair/ stroller, pulling a wagon or simply being there for moral support. Because of the expected crowd size and our confined space, we do ask that we limited the number of family members on the course. This also allows us to spotlight the athletes participating, as well as maintaining a safe event for those in the race. If you plan on being on the course during the race, we do require require out to fill out a registration- either online or paper, as well as sign the waiver of liability. We will have volunteers throughout the course to help and encourage racers as needed. Only athletes will receive tech shirt, loved ones who register have the option at registration to purchase shirts for $15.

What is allowed on the course?
All necessary equipment required to participate in the race- including wheelchairs, wagons, etc. NO PETS are ALLOWED. Please be aware that many of our athletes will want to “Race” the event, while others will not be concerned with their finish time. If you are in the second group or you have equipment larger in size- please lineup towards the back of the start line for safety purposed.

Is there a time limit?
The Christmas Parade starts on the square at 9:30am so we will need to have the streets cleared by 9:45am- which gives everyone at least 25-30 minutes to finish the 1/4 mile course

Where is the finish line?
Booth Fire and Safety on State Street. Once you cross the finish line, you will be treated to our Famous Pancake and Bacon Breakfast presented by M&L Electrical. We will have tables to eat, as well as to go boxes. We encourage all those who can to stay for the BG Christmas Parade.

What is the Event Swag?
Each registered athlete will receive an Event Long Sleeve Tech Shirt, Santa Hat, Finishers Medal, and Pancake and Bacon Breakfast. Only athletes will receive free tech shirt. Family, friends, and loved ones can purchase additional shirts by registering at race registration.

Christmas Parade?
Our finish line is within 1 block of the Christmas Parade route. We always encourage our participants to stay to enjoy this long standing tradition.
